Visakhapatnam: The two-day Infrastructure Working Group meeting of G20 Group began here at a sea-facing five star hotel on Tuesday amid unprecedented security bandobust.

Representatives from GO20 Group member-countries including the European Union and invitees from India and abroad are attending. After the conclusion of the meeting, the delegates are expected to stay for another two days visiting places of interest in the city and neighbourhood. Hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and co-hosted by the State Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, the meeting is deliberating on various aspects of funding the cities, which are growing in size due to massive urbanisation all over the world.

Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Y Srilakshmi said the members will be taken around floating solar power plants at Meghadrigedda and Mudasarlova reservoirs and waste-to-energy plants at Kapuluppada. They are also likely to visit the successfully implemented 24x7 drinking water supply project for 40,000 families in the Muralinagar area. The State Government arranged a traditional welcome to receive the delegates at the airport by assigning personal security officers to all the teams.
